Peter has over 30 years’ experience in human resource management.
His HR experience commenced some time ago with the then Department of Education where Peter was a Senior Executive Officer responsible at various times for recruitment of teachers, school staffing and undertaking industrial negotiations for Collective Employment Agreements with both the teachers unions, NZEI and PPTA.
Form there Peter was appointed as the National Human Resource Manager for Special Education Services where he was responsible for the full range of human resource matters for this Crown Owned Entity of some 2,500 staff.
On leaving SES Peter was appointed the Human Resource Manager for Agriculture Industry Training Organisation. Ag ITO was a much smaller organisation with only 80 or so staff. Peter led a number of major changes in the human resource make-up of the organisation leading to a 4th place in small to mediums sized enterprises category of the Best Places to Work Awards. During his time at Ag ITO Peter also held the position of Corporate Services Manager in charge of the HR, Administration and IT departments.
Peters next position was as the Human Resource Manager for Trust House Limited who at the time of his appointment had close to 400 staff. Over his time with Trust House Peter has represented them as a Trustee on the Wairarapa Workforce Development Trust, introduced new employment processes including application forms, Trust House Handbook and Forms book where all the employment forms required are in one place. Peter has also introduced a new performance appraisal system based on the measurement of all staff against competencies for the Company resulting in a better forum within which Managers can hold meaningful discussions with staff. These are but a few examples of his achievements.
Peter has now decided to use his vast experience to provide advice, guidance and support to businesses throughout the greater Wairarapa area. Although no longer and employee of Trust House they will continue to be one of his clients.
